The Call To Elders in Our Time

Coming of Age as Elders:
Exploring the Call to Elders in These Times
A Three-Hour-Workshop
Sunday April 6, 2025, 1:30-4:30pm

Right now, in 2025 the earth is shifting under our feet. Things we take for granted are at risk and crumbling. These times are challenging. It may be easy to say to leave it to the youth. However we are here for some reasons. Let’s explore together what this means for elders in these times. We can draw on practices and tools that help us keep moving. And we can benefit from hearing each other’s stories and insights. Connection and community are even more vital now than ever. Let’s weave a tapestry together and discover how we might each do our own work while walking beside others for support and love. And just maybe we may find ourselves with some belly-laugh humor!

In recalling an incident, from decades ago, I cringe. What made me do that? What does it mean now? I feel compassion, even affection for my younger self. Yet I also want to piece together the disparate parts of my life.

What are we doing here as elders? And how might we feel good about making it to the later decades of life. According to CG Jung, the later decades are important, a time to integrate and harvest experiences of all kinds before taking our leave. We are still here. How to mine the richness and make a difference in the process.

"I stuck my head out the window this morning and spring  kissed me bang in the face."
                                              Langston Hughes

Remember that feeling? Here we are!
Simple writing prompts drop us into memories of spring and help us resonate with the present. In Chinese medicine, spring is about rebirth and activation.  Each season/element has an emotion associated with it. In spring it is anger. The thrust of plants pushing through the soil and nature's activation can be like anger. The key is to transform that into action. Learn more at this early May workshop.
